How Much Does the Ford Mustang Cost

The 2020 Ford Mustang starts at $26,670 for a fastback (coupe)

model with the standard four-cylinder engine. The V8-powered

Mustang GT starts at $35,630, and convertible models start at

$32,170. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, and a 10-

speed automatic is optional for around $1,600.

Those prices are about average for a sports car, but going to higher

trim levels or adding options can significantly increase the cost.

The GT Premium Fastback starts at $39,630 and can top $50,000.

A GT Premium convertible ($45,130) is even more expensive. The

Mustang Bullitt starts at $47,810.

How Many People Does the Mustang Seat?

The Ford Mustang honors its muscle-car heritage with a classic

2+2 seating configuration. The car's focus, though, is on the two

front seats. Both the driver and passenger have plenty of space,

with comfortable and well-bolstered seats for longer cruises or

enthusiastic driving.

Base models only offer a handful of manual seat adjustments, but

you can upgrade to six-way power-adjustable bucket seats. Cloth

seating is standard, but Premium models have full leather

upholstery with heated and ventilated front seats.

The two back seats are very small and likely won't be a good fit for

adults for any extended period. Since the Mustang only has two

doors, it's also difficult to climb into and out of the second row.

You won't have to worry about a cramped back seat in Shelby

models – those performance-oriented cars ditch them entirely.

Mustang and Child Car Seats

The Mustang has two complete sets of LATCH car-seat connectors

on the rear seats. The lower anchors are located deep in the seat

cushion, and you may need to exert some force to attach the car-

seat straps.

Mustang Interior Quality

The Mustang sports a generally upscale and charming interior. It

feels well-built, and most surfaces and materials are high-quality.

The design is modern enough to stand out against some

uninspiring sports car interiors, though you may notice a few hard

plastic pieces. Ford injects a bit of nostalgia with cool touches like

metal flip switches for certain controls.

Mustang Cargo Space

You'll get 13.5 cubic feet of trunk space in the standard Mustang

Fastback, which is a good amount of room for the sports car class.

The rear seats fold down for longer items. Additionally, the trunk

opening is wide.

Mustang convertible models offer 11.4 cubic feet of space. That's

still a decent volume for this segment, as many cars have less than

10 cubic feet of trunk room.

Mustang Infotainment, Bluetooth, and Navigation

A base-level Mustang is pretty slim on features. It only has the

voice-controlled SYNC system with a small display.

Newly standard for 2020 is FordPass Connect. Through an app on

your phone, you can remotely lock and unlock the car, locate it,

start it, and check fuel levels and mileage. Models with the

automatic transmission have standard remote start.

We recommend opting for a model with the SYNC 3 infotainment

system, which adds an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple

Car Play, satellite radio, and a nine-speaker stereo. This system

consistently earns praise for its simple menu layout and user-

friendly operation.

Mustang Reliability

Is the Ford Mustang Reliable?

At the time of writing, the 2020 Ford Mustang doesn't have a

predicted reliability rating from J.D. Power. The nearly identical

2019 Mustang received a rating of three out of five, which is about

average.

Ford Mustang Warranty

Ford covers the Mustang with a three-year/36,000-mile basic

warranty and a five-year/60,000-mile power train warranty.

Mustang Safety

Mustang Crash Test Results

At the time of writing, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety

Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has

crash-tested the 2020 Ford Mustang. The NHTSA gave the 2019

model an overall safety rating of five out of five stars. It earned

five stars in the frontal crash, side crash, and rollover tests. The

IIHS gave the 2019 Mustang the top rating of Good in four tests

and the second-highest rating of Acceptable in the driver-side

small overlap front test.

Mustang Safety Features

A rearview camera is the only standard driver assistance feature in

the Mustang. You can equip the car with adaptive cruise control,

blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, automatic high-beam

headlights, lane departure warning, forward collision warning,

pedestrian detection, forward automatic emergency braking, rear

parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Mustang Dimensions and Weight

The Ford Mustang is around 15.8 feet long. Its curb weight ranges

from 3,535 to 3,904 pounds.

Where Is the 2020 Ford Mustang Built?

Ford builds the 2020 Mustang in Michigan.

Which Ford Mustang Model Is Right for Me

The 2020 Ford Mustang is available in a number of configurations.

There are four main trim levels: EcoBoost (or base), EcoBoost

Premium, GT, and GT Premium. You can choose between a

fastback coupe and a convertible body style.

Both of the Premium models offer a good balance of price and

features. They come with heated and ventilated leather seats, as

well as features that are missing in the base model, including

automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, a touch-screen

infotainment system, and satellite radio. Choosing between an

Eco Boost model and the GT may depend on how much you

prioritize engine power and performance compared to price.

Ford also offers a few high-performance models that come only as

fastbacks: the Mustang Bullitt, the Shelby GT350, and the all-new

Shelby GT500.

Ford Mustang Eco Boost

The Mustang Eco Boost starts at $26,670 and comes standard with

a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a six-speed manual

transmission. The standard Eco Boost convertible retails for

$32,170. A 10-speed automatic transmission is available for

around $1,600.

Standard features include cloth upholstery, manually adjustable

front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, proximity key less

entry, a rear view camera, a six-speaker stereo, and the voice-

controlled SYNC infotainment system. Also standard are Ford's

My Key safety system and the Ford Pass Connect smartphone

system.

One package of options includes dual-zone automatic climate

control, six-way power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors,

select able drive modes, and the SYNC 3 infotainment system with

an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple Car Play, satellite

radio, a nine-speaker stereo, and two USB ports. Voice-activated

navigation is optional on top of this bundle.

The Safe & Smart package adds adaptive cruise control, automatic

high-beam headlights, lane departure warning, forward collision

warning, pedestrian detection, forward automatic emergency

braking, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

New for 2020 is an optional 2.3L High Performance package. This

bundle boosts the horsepower from 310 to 330 and adds other

enhancements, including an active exhaust, a limited-slip

differential, upgraded brakes, front and rear sway bars, and retuned

steering. This package also comes with unique exterior styling

elements.

Other individual performance options include an active valve

performance exhaust and the MagneRide automatic adaptive

suspension.

Ford Mustang Eco Boost Premium

The EcoBoost Premium starts at $31,865 for the fastback and

$37,185 for the convertible. Additional standard features include

leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, six-way

power-adjustable front seats, heated outside mirrors, select able

drive modes, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear parking

sensors, and the SYNC 3 infotainment system.

The Premium Plus package includes a 12-inch digital instrument

cluster, a heated steering wheel, navigation, blind spot monitoring,

rear cross traffic alert, driver's seat memory settings, and unique

interior trim.

Ford Mustang GT

The Mustang GT features a 5.0-liter V8 engine. The standard GT

is only available as a fastback for $35,630, and it closely resembles

the base EcoBoost in amenities. However, the GT adds rev

matching to its manual transmission, and it has a limited-slip

differential.

The GT Premium’s list of features is similar to the Eco Boost

Premium's. The GT Premium Fastback starts at $39,630, and the

convertible starts at $45,130.

Ford Mustang Bullitt

Only available as a fastback, the Mustang Bullitt has a more

powerful version of the V8 engine and a starting price of $47,810.

You'll get unique interior and exterior design elements and an

upgraded suspension.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT500

The high-performance Mustang Shelby GT350, GT350R, and

GT500 all feature 5.2-liter V8 engines. Standard features include

aerodynamic body accents, Recaro front sport seats, Brembo

brakes, and the Magne Ride automatic adaptive suspension. The

GT350R adds a carbon fiber rear spoiler and wheels, a larger front

air splitter, and red brake calipers.

The Handling package includes adjustable strut mounts and a rear

spoiler Gurney flap. The Technology package comes with a Bang

& Olufsen premium sound system, blind spot monitoring, rear

cross traffic alert, and navigation.

New for 2020, the top-of-the-line Shelby GT500 has a

supercharged V8 engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic

transmission, a race-inspired chassis and suspension, high-
